Submission Guidelines

We are open for submissions…

If you are a children’s book writer, and want to work with us here at Dinosaur Books, then get submitting!

We will occasionally advertise for submissions for particular projects via Twitter and Instagram. Follow us @DinosaurBooksCo

We are a very small company (you can probably tell that) and proud of publishing authors from under represented communities - writers of colour, working class writers. As a Black owned and led business, we are particularly passionate about championing Black writers and illustrators - these are under represented in the publishing industry (as are Black publishers)!

We are currently also interested in illustration submissions, particularly from illustrators who draw in a pen and ink style.

We look forward to hearing from you - we read all submissions received. Please accept my apologies for not replying if your manuscript or illustrations are not right for us, we receive many submissions and have a small output. Unfortunately, we are unable to reply personally or give any feedback.

Please send either your synopsis and first three chapters or a example of your writing style that’s 5 pages to submissions@dinosaurbooks.co.uk and mark your email: submission

We love to look at…

We love to get submissions, but we sometimes build up a backlog because it takes so long to go through everything. We keep all submissions that meet our guidelines on file and contact any author or illustrator whose work we think would be a good fit for us.

To submit fiction for children aged 5 - 12, please email: submissions@dinosaurbooks.co.uk and mark your email submission

Ideally, send the first three chapters of the story and the synopsis. However, you may also send a sample of work that is not for children, if you are considering writing for the middle grade market.

We are very happy to look at unsolicited manuscripts from authors and illustrators and those who do not already have agents. Please do not submit work unless you are happy to collaborate closely with a book editor and accept editing of your work.
